Kil and Owls Set for 2023 ASUN Women’s Golf Championship

Kennesaw State seeks another piece of hardware this week at the 2023 ASUN Women's Golf Championship in Huntsville, Ala. at the Hampton Cove Golf Course.
KSU enters the tournament after Bella Kil, Lara Jecnik, Meva Schmit and Cameron Neilson earned ASUN All-Conference honors Friday.
This event has been kind to the Black and Gold in recent memory with the squad finishing top three in every ASUN Championship since the 2009-10 season. KSU has had a player finish inside the top four individually in every event since the 2011-12 campaign.
The Owls have won four of the last seven ASUN Women's Golf titles including three in a row from 2017-18 to 2021. KSU has also secured each of the last four individual medalist honors and seven of the last nine dating back to 2012-13.
A win at the event would secure the Owls a spot in the NCAA Division I regionals for the sixth time in program history.
KSU boasts the most individual medalist honors in ASUN Championship history with seven. The next-closest active ASUN foe is Stetson with two.
The program also has the second-most all-time ASUN Women's Golf titles with five, three behind former conference member Campbell.
Former Owl Alizee Vidal won the event last season and earned an individual spot in the 2022 NCAA Tallahassee Regional.
The event begins Sunday, Apr. 16 and lasts through Tuesday, Apr. 18.
 
Setting the Pace
With KSU's tied-for-fifth finish at the FAU Paradise Invitational in February, head coach Erin Thorne's Owls set a program record with an eighth consecutive top-five finish. That mark was extended to nine with the team's second-place finish at the Rio Verde Invitational.
The Owls finished top four in every event during the fall, the most to start a season in program history. The team also set a program record with seven consecutive top-four finishes dating back to the 2021-22 season.
