Jecnik Finishes Strong as Owls Post Fifth Top-Two Finish of 2023

DEBARY, Fla. – Round three action at the Bab Steffens Invitational concluded Tuesday as the Kennesaw State women's golf team earned second place at the event.

The Owls finished with an overall team score of 32-over 896 on the event, five strokes ahead of third-place Cincinnati and 22 strokes in front of the next-closest ASUN foe, Austin Peay.

The placement marked KSU's fifth top-two finish of the season and the ninth under head coach Erin Thorne.

  
LEADING THE TEAM:

Lara Jecnik posted the best score for the Owls at the event with a 6-over 222 scorecard. The junior recorded a 2-over 74 third round.

Jecnik led the 79-player field in pars with 43.

  
SCORECARD:  

Nyah Kelly posted a 1-over 73 score on Tuesday, earning a tied-for-eighth placement with a 7-over 223 tournament score.

Kelly's 4.75 par-5 scoring average was third at the event.

Senior Meva Schmit finished tied for 10th at 8-over 224 across the three-round tournament.

Bella Kil and Cameron Neilson each ended at 10-over 226 and tied for 12th.

Individual participant Tori Owens followed closely behind the duo with a 12-over 228 score, tied for 18th.

Caitlyn Campbell-Nyman finished out the KSU scorecard this week with a 19-over 235, placing 39th.

Schmit and Campbell-Nyamn were tied for fifth in par-3 scoring with a 3.00 average.

>> KSU led the field in par-3 scoring average (3.07) and pars (180).

>> The Owls finished fourth in par-4 scoring (4.30) and second in par-5 scoring (5.07).

>> The team's 27 birdies were third in the field.

>> Kelly's second-round eagle was one of only two at the event.

Kennesaw State hosts the Pinetree Women's Collegiate presented by Hennsler on Apr. 3-4 at the Pinetree Country Club to close out the 2022-23 regular season.
