EATONTON, Ga. – The Kennesaw State men's golf team opened play at the Linger Longer Invitational at Great Waters Golf Club at Reynolds Lake Oconee on Sunday.

The Owls carded an 11-over par round of 299 and are tied for ninth with South Florida and Wofford. No. 20 Alabama and No. 34 Georgia are tied for the lead at 5-under par 283.

"Great Waters was a true test today with fast greens and breezy conditions. Hugo played an amazing round amongst some of the best players in college golf," head coach
Bryant Odom said. "As a team, we must improve on the par 5s and increase our opportunities there. We are last on that category. We are tied for the lead in par 3 play and very respectable in the par 4s so we hope to keep that up. If we can get all five players involved in scoring tomorrow we can post a solid team score."

Hugo Lari paced the Owls on a Sunday with a round of 4-under par 68. Lari rolled in seven birdies and nine pars during the round. The junior is in a three-way tie for the lead in the event.

Evan Thompson posted a 76 while
Claes Borregaard recorded a 77. Thompson is tied for 55
th and Borregaard is tied for 65
th.

Yuya Eguchi and
Shaun Cook carded rounds of 78 and are tied for 69
th. Eguchi and Cook both were 1-under par on their final four holes.

Playing as an individual,
Lucas Mota is in 91
st.

The Owls are set to tee off in round two of the Linger Longer Invitational at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 20.
