First and Second Round Results | Third Round Results
BOCA RATON, Fla. – An incredible third round at the FAU Paradise Invitational propelled the Kennesaw State women's golf team to its eighth-consecutive top-five finish Tuesday.
KSU finished tied for fifth after an 8-over 872 scorecard, the lowest team score recorded by an ASUN team this week. The mark was 13 strokes ahead of the next-lowest ASUN score from this week.
The Owls posted the fifth-lowest single-round score on Tuesday at 3-over 291, ahead of Golfstat's No. 47 Nebraska. The Black and Gold finished six strokes ahead of host school Florida Atlantic.
LEADING THE TEAM:
Meva Schmit led the Owls during the two-day event after an even-par round Tuesday for an overall score of 2-over 218. She finished tied for 22nd.
SCORECARD:
Freshman
Nyah Kelly finished second on the team at 4-over 220 for the event. Her overall tournament score, 1-under 71 third round and tied-for-30th placement all marked KSU career records for the Ontario, Canada native.
Caitlyn Campbell-Nyman notched a 5-over 221 across the two days and tied for 32nd.
Cameron Neilson rebounded Tuesday at 1-over 73 third round, contributing to a 7-over 223 tournament scorecard.
Senior
Bella Kil rounded out the Owls' card at 8-over 224 in the three rounds. Kil's 41 pars were tied for third among the participants.
Neilson finished tied for 41st and Kil ended tied for 46th.
THORNE'S THOUGHTS:
GOLF CART NOTES:
>> KSU's 183 pars were fourth among the participating teams.
>> The Owls finished fourth in par-3 scoring average (3.10) and par-5 scoring average (4.98).
>> KSU was the only ASUN team to not post a round of 300 or higher this week.
NEXT TEE TIME:
After a couple weeks off, the Owls return to the course on Friday, Feb. 24 through Sunday, Feb. 26 for the Rio Verde Invitational in Rio Verde, Ariz. hosted by Western Michigan.
KSU won the event last year with Campbell-Nyman securing individual medalist honors.
