DORADO, Puerto Rico – The Kennesaw State men's golf team moved into a four-way tie for eighth after round two of the Dorado Beach Collegiate at TPC Dorado Beach.
The Owls posted a 10-under 278 in round two for a 6-under par total of 570 through 36 holes. KSU is tied for first in scoring on par 5s and second in scoring on par 3s. No. 39 Cincinnati leads the field at 32-under par.
"Today was a big day for us," head coach
Bryant Odom said. "We continued our momentum on the par 3s and 5s by cleaning up the errors from yesterday's par 4s and tallied our best round of the year. We had the fourth-lowest round of the day and beat No. 2 Auburn and No. 12 Virginia today. Tossing out a non-counting score of 72 is a big step as everyone was contributing throughout the round. I'm excited to see this team reach their potential together and prove to themselves their ability as a group. We look forward to the final round and carrying the momentum into the next event back in Georgia."
Evan Thompson and
Claes Borregaard are leading the Owls at 3-under par 141 through two rounds. Borregaard fired a 3-under par 69 with an eagle, four birdies and 11 pars. His 69 matched his season-low round of the season. Thompson remained consistent, making four birdies and three pars over his final eight holes to post a 2-under 70.
Shaun Cook closed with three birdies, four pars and an eagle over his final nine holes to card a 3-under 69. He is tied for 39
th at 1-under par 143.
Hugo Lari (147) and
Yuya Eguchi (148) are tied for 61
st and 67
th respectively. Lari posted a 72 and Eguchi carded a 70 on Tuesday.
Playing as an individual,
