2023-24 Season Opens in Nashville Versus Commodores

NASHVILLE - Year three of head coach Octavia Blue's tenure leading Kennesaw State women's basketball (0-0) begins Monday, Nov. 6 in a showdown with SEC foe Vanderbilt (0-0) inside Memorial Gymnasium.

The Owls went 15-16 a season ago including 10-8 in Atlantic Sun play and 9-4 inside the KSU Convocation Center. 2023-24 marks the 42nd season of compeititon for KSU women's basketball.

  • Monday's meeting is the second in the series. Vandy leads 1-0 all-time, having won 86-54 in 2016.
  • Kennesaw State's last win over a Power Six team came on Dec. 22, 2014 in a 61-60 home victory over Xavier.
  • The Owls are seeking their first win in a road opener since the 2014-15 campaign.
  • A win would improve Coach Blue to 4-3 as KSU head coach against teams from the state of Tennessee.
  • A win would also secure KSU's first-ever victory over an SEC opponent.

Coach Blue Thumbs Up
  • The Black and Gold protected the Nest in 2022-23, accruing a 9-4 record inside the friendly confines of the KSU Convocation Center.
  • Last season, KSU WBB doubled its conference win total from five to 10, finishing with a 10-8 record in ASUN play.
  • In her first two seasons at the helm, Coach Blue has secured 24 wins, the second-most by a KSU coach in DI program history in their first two seasons.
  • Of the 14 Owls on the roster, seven are new to the Nest as freshmen or transfers, but for the first time as head coach, Blue's roster is 100% comprised of players brought in by one of her staffs.

  • 2022-23 was a season of success for the Owls, with Coach Blue leading KSU to its most conference wins (10) since 2008-09 and most single-season victories (15) since 2014-15.
  • KSU is set to host 14 home games this season, including exciting contests against Florida Atlantic, Chattanooga and Georgetown.
