Women's Basketball Welcomes FAU for Owl vs. Owl Matchup

KENNESAW, Ga. - A clash between two Owl squads is set for Saturday, Nov. 25 between Kennesaw State (1-3) and Florida Atlantic (3-1) inside the KSU Convocation Center.

The American Athletic Conference opponent is the fourth team with a record of .500 or better that KSU has faced in as many games to open the 2023-24 season.

Saturday marks the sixth all-time meeting between the squads, with the last meeting on Dec. 2, 2022 in a 67-59 win for FAU. This is the first game in Kennesaw in the series since Dec. 2, 2021.

Sophia Rueppell
  • The Owls last played this past Sunday, Nov. 19 in a 77-38 loss to unbeaten Georgia Tech.
  • Freshman Sophia Rueppell scored 17 points in the defeat, the most by an Owl in a game this season. Her point total featured five three-pointers - the most by an Owl this season, the most by a KSU freshman since 2019-20 and tied the most by an Owl during head coach Octavia Blue's tenure.
  • Prencis Harden notched 10 points as well against the Yellow Jackets - the seventh double-digit scoring game of her KSU career.
  • KSU has held its last two opponents to season-low point totals (Georgia State - 62 and Georgia Tech - 77, respectively)
  • The Owls are 1-0 at home this season and have won five of their last six games inside the Convo.
  • The Black and Gold are 1-4 all-time against FAU with the lone win coming Nov. 14, 2010 in a 65-64 victory in Boca Raton, Fla.
  • In her career as a coach and player, Octavia Blue is 6-2 against Florida Atlantic.
  • Harden led the Owls in rebounds (7) in the 2021 meeting between the teams.
  • FAU defeated KSU's Atlantic Sun foe Stetson Monday, Nov. 20, 50-39, to improve to 3-1 on the early season.

  • Senior Kyndall Golden has shined on defense for the Owls in the early part of the 2023-24 season and ranks among the best in the country in the following categories:
    • 39th in blocks per game (2.0)
    • 47th in total blocks (8)
  • Both rank first in the Atlantic Sun.

Saw Storylines

  • The Black and Gold protected the Nest in 2022-23, accruing a 9-4 record inside the friendly confines of the KSU Convocation Center.
  • Last season, KSU WBB doubled its conference win total from five to 10, finishing with a 10-8 record in ASUN play.
  • In her first two seasons at the helm, Coach Blue has secured 24 wins, the second-most by a KSU coach in DI program history in their first two seasons.
  • Of the 14 Owls on the roster, seven are new to the Nest as freshmen or transfers, but for the first time as head coach, Blue's roster is 100% comprised of players brought in by one of her staffs.

  • 2022-23 was a season of success for the Owls, with Coach Blue leading KSU to its most conference wins (10) since 2008-09 and most single-season victories (15) since 2014-15.
  • KSU is set to host 12 more home games this season, including exciting contests against Chattanooga and Georgetown.
