Tournament Results
MACON, Ga. - The Owls concluded a successful three-day weekend after competing in the Mercer Gridiron Classic tournament hosted at the Randy Stephens Tennis Center. Kennesaw State competed with all nine players and compiled 29 victories.
Play began on Friday following doubles and singles matches. Match play resumed Saturday and Sunday continuing the format of singles and doubles play amongst a variety of teams.
Kennesaw State obtained eight doubles victories and secured all final wins in the
west draw stage. Taylor Dean and freshman Ema Barianakova def. Vivien Charvatova/Kelly Klaren (FSC) 8-2, advancing to the final. The freshman and veteran duo
Ivana Gresova and
Izabelle Persson def. Neli Sunjic/Kennedi Brown (FSC) 8-2 and Ane Ibarra /Sofia Neri (AUM) 8-3.
Sofia Madrid and
Sophia Unger also were victorious over Lena Golz/Paula Velayos (MGA) 8-3 and Jou Chen Chen/Marina Prieto. The Freshmen pair of Terezia Barianakova and
Laura Nadaska dominated Kourtni Stewart/Ama White (GSU) 8-1, and Aya El Marrasse/Sandra Recuenco Tarin (MGA) 6-3.
The Owls had big wins from
Sofia Madrid,
Izabelle Persson,
Amulika Gottiparthy and Terezia Barianakova, collecting final victories in the singles bracket.
Sofia Madrid clinched her win over Maria Paredes (GSU) 6-4, 2-6, 10-3 while
Izabelle Persson def. Francesca Miglio (GSU) 6-3, 2-6, 10-5.
Amulika Gottiparthy and Terezia Barianakova both made it to the final after commanding the same bracket. Gottiparthy def. Ashley Bentz 6-0, 6-2 and Barianakova def. Bea Acena 6-3, 3-6, 6-0.
