TULSA, Okla. – Sophomore
Nyah Kelly shined in her season debut shouldering the Owls into seventh place to end day one in the Dale McNamara Invitational in Tulsa, Okla. Monday evening.
Kelly had a personal best score through 18 and 36 holes today. Her first-round score was a 2-over 74 but was splendid in the second round with a four-under 68. She totaled a 142 total score to tie for ninth going into the final day. Kelly leaped 16 spots from round one to round two. The Owls shot 585 as a team with a impressive 5-under 283 to end the day.
SCORECARD:
Not far behind Kelly was Bella Kil with a 2-under 70 score in round two to go along with a 5-over 77 in round one. Kil ends the day tied for 27th in the 86-player field.
Lara Jecnik posted identical rounds of 74 twice to land in the top 40 with a 148 total.
Caitlyn Campbell-Nyman showcased the strongest bounce back of the day trimming her first-round score by 11 ending with a 153.
Sabrina Kim finished up the day with a 156 score though 36 holes.
GOLF CART NOTES:
>> Three Owls finished in the top 10 for average strokes per par 4 (Kelly, Kil and Jecnik)
>> Tied for fourth as a team with a 18+ total on Par 4's
NEXT TEE TIME:
Tomorrow begins at 1 p.m. CT or 2 p.m. ET for the Owls with a shotgun start.
