ORLANDO, Fla. – Nine members of the Kennesaw State men's tennis team participated in the UCF Fall Sizzler at the USTA Tennis Complex over the weekend.
 
"It was awesome to see two of our freshmen, Agustin and Brian, step up this weekend and make it an all KSU final in their respective draw," associate head coach Simon Pritchard said. "Really proud of Brian for winning a Fall Tournament during his first semester as an Owl!  As always, Raul and Conway played some great doubles this weekend and came up just short in the tie break that decided the final."
 
In singles action. Harvey Conway picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win over Eric Oncins of FGCU and a 6-3 6-0 victory over Patrick Kotan of UNF to reach the Flight A consolation final. Raul Garcia picked up third place in Flight A after securing a victory over Santiago Giam Seru Tezuka, Agustin Miramontes and Brian Capalnean all reached the semifinals of Flight C. Miramontes and Capalnean reached the final with Capalnean coming out on top. Anthony Weingarten defeated Ninad Raut in singles bonus play on Sunday.
 
In doubles, Raul Garcia and Harvey Conway picked up a pair of wins before narrowly falling in the Flight A final. Miramontes and Anthony Weingarten reached the final of Flight B in consolation play. KSU also got a win from Tezuka and Capalnean in doubles play.  
 
Next Up
Following this weekend, KSU will head to Atlanta for the ITA Southeast Regionals on Oct. 12-16.
