KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State men's golf team captured the team and individual titles at the Pinetree Intercollegiate at Pinetree Country Club on Tuesday.
The Owls posted an even-par round of 288 for a 54-hole total of 14-under par 850. KSU and Augusta (6-under) were the only teams to finish under par after 54 holes.
Shaun Cook collected his first collegiate tournament win on Tuesday. The sophomore carded a 2-under par 70 to finish at 11-under par 205. His 11-under par total ranks sixth in program history and third in tournament history.
Cook became the fourth Owl to take home medalist honors at the Pinetree Intercollegiate. He led the 58-person field in scoring on par-5s (10-under par) and birdies with 15.
Freshman
Hunter Gillard recorded a 4-over round 76 and tied for sixth at even-par 216.
Senior
Hugo Lari tied for eighth at 1-over par 217 after an even-par round of 72 on Tuesday.
Reed Sweigart made three birdies and 12 pars to also shoot 72 in the final round. He took home a tie for 19
th at 3-over par 219.
Kyle Bachkosky played his final four holes at 1-under par to record a 2-over par 74 and finish tied for 17
th at 5-over par 221.
Joshua Todd tied for fourth at 1-under par to lead a group of three Owls who were competing as individuals.
Josh Ledford secured 23
rd at 8-over par 224 while
Evan Buddenhagen finished 56
th at 17-over.
Notes
>> Kennesaw State's win was the 20th team title in program history. It marked the third time KSU has collected three wins in a season.
>> The Owls led the field in par-3 and par-4 scoring average
>> KSU made 168 pars and 52 birdies in the event.
Next Up
KSU will close out the fall portion of the season at the Steelwood Collegiate on Oct. 28-29.
