KENNESAW, Ga. –
Raul Garcia of the Kennesaw State men's tennis team will play for Bolivia in the 2023 First round of Davis Cup World Group II Play-offs against Georgia on Feb. 2-3 in Leszno, Poland.

"We couldn't be more excited for Raul," Director of Tennis Matt Emery said. "The privilege of representing your country in the Davis Cup is one of the most coveted honors in our sport. Raul is as deserving as they come."

The series winner will advance to World Group II to meet one of the 12 losers from the World Group I play-offs in September this year. The one that falls between Bolivia and Georgia will land in Group III of its zone to play that stage this year.

Garcia posted an 8-3 record during the fall and opened the fall with a trio of wins at the UCF Fall Sizzler securing the championship in his flight. He defeated Sam Bossem of Penn State 6-2, 6-3 in the round of 256 and would return to the court later in the afternoon and defeat No. 94 JC Roddick of Texas A&M 6-2, 6-3 at the ITA All-American Championships. The Bolivian native earned a pair of consolation wins over players from Miami and Georgia at the ITA Southeast Regional Championships. The junior's final win of the fall came at the Mercer Fall Classic. He is 1-2 in action so far this spring.

The Owls will battle Presbyterian at the Betty Siegel Courts on Thursday, Feb. 9 at 2 p.m.
