KENNESAW, Ga. - The Kennesaw State women's golf team is set for an incredible spring season following a record-setting fall.
The Owls extended their program record to seven consecutive top-four finishes dating back to the 2021-22 season, including three top-two placements in the fall.
"We are excited to get the spring season going," head coach Erin Thorne said. "We did a lot of good during the fall and look to build off it with some new benchmarks to keep moving the program forward. The energy in the early practices has been good and we've got eight players that can step into the lineup and get the job done."
Senior Bella Kil was named ASUN Player of the Week on Oct. 20 for her third-place finish at The Southern after posting the lowest single-round score by an ASUN player that week.
Junior Lara Jecnik shined in the first four events of the season, placing top 15 in each and tying the KSU single-round low record of 66 at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic – a new career-low for the Slovenia native.
The trip to Golfweek was the marquee performance for KSU in the fall with a second-place finish at 3-under 861, the third-best mark in program history. The team score of 280 at the event was good for second-best in the KSU record books.
Jecnik and Kil lead the Owls with a 73.67 scoring average this season.
Thorne leads the Owls into five tournaments, beginning with the FAU Paradise Invitational in Boca Raton, Fla. on Feb. 6-7.
Also on the schedule this semester is the home tournament Pinetree Women's Collegiate presented by Henssler on Apr. 3-4 and the 2023 ASUN Championship from Apr. 16-18. The Owls look to capture their fourth conference title since 2018 and their fifth consecutive ASUN individual championship.

Kennesaw State is ranked No. 55 on Golfstat entering the spring, first in the ASUN and 29 spots ahead of the next ASUN team (Lipscomb).

Jecnik enters 2023 as Golfstat's No. 219th collegiate women's golfer, the second-highest ranking for an ASUN competitor.

KSU enters '23 with a program-record seven consecutive top four placements.

By starting off the 2022-23 with four-straight top-four finishes, the Owls set a program record for most consecutive top four marks to start a season.

In the fall, KSU started off the season with back-to-back top-two finishes for the first time in program history and three-straight top-two finishes dating back to 2021-2022 – another program record.

Kil added to her KSU career record in the fall with seven eagles.

The Owls' par-4 scoring average is on-pace for third in KSU history (4.23).

KSU's 4.95 par-5 scoring average is on-pace to break the program record of 4.97 (2018-19).

The team posted a 3.68 GPA in the fall semester with every player earning a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Meva Schmit, Cameron Neilson and Tori Owens all earned 4.0 GPA's.
