First Round Results | Second Round Live Scoring
WOLCOTT, Co. – Bella Kil leads the Kennesaw State women's golf team after the first round of the 2022 Golfweek Program Challenge Monday.
The Black and Gold stand tied for fifth, having carded 1-over 289 on the 6,367-yard course, including 4-under 144 on the back nine.
KSU finished ahead of Mercer by a stroke, Washington State by two and only trails tournament leader Pepperdine by four strokes. The Owls lead ASUN foe Central Arkansas by seven strokes.
LEADING THE TEAM:
Kil, a 2021 ASUN All-Conference selection, paced the Owls at 1-under 71. She enters round two tied for 12th.
She senior was one of two Owls to score an eagle in the first round. Her 2.50 par-3 scoring is tied for second in the field.
SCORECARD:
Cameron Neilson is next up on the scorecard after an even-par opening round. She birdied three of her final four holes Monday and is tied for 17th.
Neilson is tied for second with a 4.50 par-5 scoring average which leads the team.
Meva Schmit and Lara Jecnik are tied for 27th with 1-over 73 scores on the day.
Jecnik landed an eagle on the 18th to finish her afternoon. Schmit leads the team with a 3.90 par-4 scoring average and 13 pars.
Caitlyn Campbell-Nyman carded a 2-over 74 on the first 18 holes and is tied for 45th.
GOLF CART NOTES:
>> KSU is tied for the tournament lead with two eagles (Pepperdine) and one of only four schools to post at least one on Monday.
>> KSU leads the field in par-4 scoring average (4.08).
>> The team is tied for fourth with a 4.90 par-5 scoring average.
NEXT TEE TIME:
Round two of the Golfweek Red Sky Classic tees off Tuesday, Sept. 27. from the Fazio Course. The event concludes on Wednesday, Sept. 28.
