SAPPHIRE, N.C. – Hugo Lari led the Kennesaw State men's golf team through the opening 36 holes of the J.T. Poston Invitational at the Country Club of Sapphire Valley on Monday.

Bryant Odom said. "I am proud of Lucas as he bounced back from a tough start this morning and posted a solid round this afternoon. If we can get all five players contributing deep into the round we can move up the leaderboard tomorrow."
The Owls are in eighth place after a pair of 5-over par rounds of 289 for a 10-over par total of 578. Coastal Carolina leads the 17-team field at 4-under par 564.
Lari carded a pair of 1-under par rounds of 70 and is tied for fifth at 2-under par 140. The sophomore made nine birdies and 10 pars during the opening 36 holes in the event. He leads the field in par-4 scoring average at 4-under par.
Freshman
Shaun Cook continued his strong play to open the season. He fired rounds of 71-71 for an even-par total of 142 and is tied for ninth. Cook totaled eight birdies and 21 pars on Monday.
After an opening round 77,
Lucas Mota rebounded with a 1-over 72 in the afternoon round. Mota is tied for 44
th at 5-over 149. He is 3-under par on the Par 5s through 36 holes.
Claes Borregaard (71-80) and is tied for 62
nd while
Yuya Eguchi (77-76) is tied for 82
nd.
Playing as an individual,
Evan Thompson (80-77) is in 92
nd.
The final round of the J.T. Poston Invitational is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 27. KSU will be paired with Georgia State and Belmont with tee times set to go every nine minutes from 8:35 – 9:11 a.m.
