Owls at Nittany Lion Invitational

Schmit Leads Owls to Second-Place Finish in Pennsylvania

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Meva Schmit posted an even-par round on day three to lead the Kennesaw State women's golf team to a second-place finish in the Nittany Lion Invitational on Sunday.  

The Owls posted a 13-over 887 score to finish the weekend, placing one stroke ahead of Boston College and 17 ahead of ASUN Conference foe Eastern Kentucky. 

LEADING THE TEAM: 
Meva Schmit led the owls with a score of 2-over 218 overall across the three rounds. She finished tied for seventh, marking the best finish of her KSU career. 

Her 39 pars at the event led the team and were second among the participants. 

 
 
SCORECARD: 

Lara Jecnik finished second on the team with a 3-over 219 final score after posting a 1-under 71 score in the third round. Jecnik was the only Owl to post multiple under-par rounds at State College this weekend. 

She finished tied for 9th place on the leaderboard and tied for 3rdwith 38 pars.   

Cameron Neilson finished tied for 17th place with a 2-over 74 score in the third round to finish at 5-over 221 overall. Neilson led the team with a 4.03 par-4 scoring average and nine birdies. 

She finished second in the event with a 4.67 par-5 scoring average. 

   

Bella Kil led the field with a 4.58 par-5 scoring average. She posted a scorecard of 226 across three rounds and tied for 32nd.  

Caitlyn Campbell-Nyman finished tied for 36th after a 1-over 73 third round. She ended the tournament with an overall score of 227.  

Individual participant Nyah Kelly shot a 235 to complete her first tournament with the Owls.

GOLF CART NOTES:  
>>KSU led the field in pars (176) and par-5 scoring (4.85 average).  

>> The team posted the second-most birdies (37) in the event. 

>> The Owls' 4.14 par-4 scoring average was third in the field.

The Owls head to Wolcott, Co. on Sept. 26-28 at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic.
