Cook Paces Owls Through 36 Holes at Jim Rivers Intercollegiate

CHOUDRANT, La.
 – The Kennesaw State men's golf team is in 16th place after the second round of the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate at Squire Creek Country Club.
 
"We were close to playing really well today," head coach Bryant Odom said. "Conditions were tougher than yesterday and we hung tough all day. We moved up the leaderboard a little bit which was positive. If we can get five guys contributing tomorrow we could have a really low number."
 
The Owls posted a 3-over par 291 in round two for a 6-over par total of 582. Southern Mississippi leads the 23-team field at 22-under par through 36 holes.
 
Shaun Cook carded a 1-under 71 and tied for 41st at 1-under par 143 for the tournament. He freshman rolled in three birdies and six pars to shoot 3-under par 33 on his final nine holes of the day. The freshman has made eight birdies and 21 pars through two rounds in his Owls debut.
 
Lucas Mota recorded a 1-over 73 and is tied for 51st with an even-par total of 144. He closed his round on Monday with six pars and a birdie.
 
Claes Borregaard bounced back from a tough opening round with a 1-over 71. He is tied for 79th at 4-over par 148. After an opening bogey, the sophomore tallied three birdies and 13 pars over his final 17 holes.
 
Hugo Lari is tied for 86th at 5-over par 149 after a 76 on Monday.
 
Evan Thompson is tied for 116th at 11-over par through 36 holes.
 
The Owls will play in the final round of the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate on Tuesday, September 13. KSU will be paired with Nicholls State, High Point and Francis Marion .
