KENNESAW, Ga. – One of five new members that will be inducted into the Kennesaw State Athletics Hall of Fame this fall includes the first-ever from the Owls' men's cross country squad, as Nabil Hamid will represent the harriers as an all-time KSU great after a stellar four years with the Black and Gold.

A native of Oromia, Ethopia, Hamid was one of the top high school runners in the state of Georgia before joining the Owl program as a freshman in 2009. During his four years, he led KSU to a pair of ASUN Conference titles (2010, 2011), the first in program history.

More notably, he is the only Owl to have reached the NCAA Division I Championships, having claimed a spot in the 2011 and 2012 championship meets thanks to a pair of top-seven finishes in the NCAA South Regional meet. Hamid's top national finish came in his junior campaign when he ran a 30:41.8 in the 10K to place 87th overall.

His name is all over the KSU record book, starting with the 10K where he holds the top time in school history of 30.40.04. He also holds the record in the 8K with a 24:01.06, and has the Owls' fifth-fastest time in both the 6K and 5K.

The 2009 ASUN Freshman of the Year, he is the only Owl to have been named ASUN All-Conference four times, and also was a two-time USTFCCCA All-Region selection, earning the distinction in both 2011 and 2012.

Other highlights include a pair of meet victories, while he recorded three straight runner-up finishes at the ASUN Championships after a third-place performance as a freshman.

In addition, Hamid was a three-time all-conference selection for the Owls' outdoor track and field squad, while he was the ASUN champion in 2011 in the 10,000m run. He currently holds the program's third-fastest time in both the 10,000m as well as KSU's third-fastest 5,000m indoor performance.

Hamid received his bachelor's degree in business administration from KSU in 2013, and is currently a Portable Department Manager at Exhibitus Inc. in Tucker, Ga., where he has worked since 2017.
