Haugh Set to Compete in Hammer Throw at 2022 World Championships

FROM THE THROWER'S CAGE
Former Owl and current volunteer coach Daniel Haugh will compete in the qualification round of the hammer throw at the 2022 World Athletics Championships on Friday, July 15 at 12:05 ET. Haugh will compete in a field of 32 athletes from 21 countries in the qualifying round. To advance to the final, he will need to hit the world standard of 77.50m or finish in the top 12 overall. The final is set for Saturday, July 16 at 12 p.m. ET.  The World Championships will be broadcast (NBC/CNBC) and streamed (NBC Sports/Peacock).
 
NEWS AND NOTES
» Haugh qualified for the World Championships by winning the gold medal in the hammer throw with a personal-best toss of 80.18m (263'1") at the USATF Championships. That mark ranks fifth in U.S. history.
 
» He won the National Championship in the hammer throw in 2019 as an Owl. He competed at the 2019, 2021, 2022 U.S. Championships, 2019 World Championships and the 2020 Olympics.
