EUGENE, Ore. – Ciara Miles and
Xavier Parris along with former Owls
Daniel Haugh and
Paris Williams competed at the USATF and USATF U20 Championships on Saturday at Hayward Field.
Haugh won the gold medal in the hammer throw with a personal-best toss of 80.18m (263'1") at the USATF Championships. That mark ranks fifth in U.S. history. His victory secured him a spot in the World Athletics Championships, which will also be at Oregon's Hayward Field on July 15-24.
"Super thankful to finally surpass the legendary 80m barrier and take my first US title in the hammer," Haugh said. "Big thanks to the coaching staff at KSU and my family for all the continued support. Go Owls!"
Williams ran a time of 13.76 seconds to place 20
th at the USATF Championships.
Parris and Miles represented KSU in the U20 championships.
Parris ran a time of time of 21.58 seconds in the first round of the 200m to advance to the final. He would take home a seventh-place finish in the final with a personal-best time of 20.99 seconds.
Miles recorded a time of 10:20.70 to secure seventh in the 3k.
