KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State senior
Sarah Hendrick was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-American second team on Tuesday, marking the first Owl in program history to earn a CoSIDA Academic team honor.
Hendrick began the 2021-22 season on the cross country course, where she posted career-best performances in the 5k and 6k and was the Owls' top finisher in three races. She placed 10
th at the ASUN Championship earning ASUN Second Team All-Conference honors.
As the winter came so did the indoor track season. Hendrick established new school records in the 400m, 600m, and mile events as well as on the distance medley relay. She won the 400m and the mile and finished second in the distance medley relay at the ASUN Championships. The Kennesaw native earned First Team All-American honors in the 800m after an eighth-place finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
During the outdoor season, Hendrick is currently undefeated in the 800m. She established new school records in the 800m and 1500m this season, while her time of 2:00.98 in the 800m is tied for first in the NCAA this season. Hendricks won the 1500m at the prestigious Penn Relays, and collected gold medals in the 800m and 1500m and a silver medal in the 4x400m relay at the ASUN Outdoor Championships. She was named ASUN Most Valuable Performer and Most Outstanding Track Performer of the ASUN Championships. She finished the collegiate season with a fifth-place finish in the 800m at NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Hendrick is a strong student in the classroom as well. She holds a 3.89 GPA while majoring in nursing. She has been named to ASUN Cross Country and ASUN Indoor All-Academic teams this year.
Hendrick will compete at U.S. Outdoor Championships in the 800m on Thursday, June 23.
