GREENSBORO, N.C. – The NCAA's leader in hits and doubles collected another postseason accolade as
Josh Hatcher was selected to the 2022 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings Southeast All-Region Second Team. The award marks the second consecutive year KSU baseball has landed a player on the prestigious list (
Jake Rice, 2021).
Hatcher ended the year with a team-high .391 batting average that included three triples, 15 home runs and a program-record 26 doubles. This season, he became the first player in KSU history to hit for the cycle and two games later, became only the third player in NCAA history to hit for two cycles in the same season.
At the ASUN Conference Tournament, the center fielder was named first-team All-ASUN and collected the ASUN Tournament Most Valuable Player Award. Hatcher helped lead the Owls to their first ASUN Tournament Championship and NCAA Regional appearance since 2014.
The center fielder continued to dominate at the NCAA Hattiesburg Regional and was selected to the All-Tournament Team. Hatcher finished 6-for-12 (.500) with two home runs, one double, four RBI and six runs scored.
The selection to the ABCA/Rawlings Southeast All-Region Second Team comes two weeks after Hatcher was named a third-team All-American by Collegiate Baseball. He is the first KSU non-freshman to be named an All-American since Max Pentecost in 2014.
