Leading Off
The postseason has arrived for the No. 6 seed Kennesaw State softball team in the form of a win-or-go-home contest against the No. 7 Stetson Hatters.
The Owls enter the tournament having won each of their last seven games and nine of the last 10. The seven-game streak started with a three-game series sweep of the Hatters to open the month.
Stetson is coming off a 7-6 win over No. 1 Liberty where it handed the Flames their first conference loss of the season.
In 2021, the Owls put together a deep tournament run, making it all the way to the ASUN Championship game.
Making History
Third baseman
Taylor Cates enters the tournament after breaking the KSU single-season home run record against Jacksonville on Saturday. She stands at 17 on the year, tied for most in the ASUN.
Cates is also chasing the KSU single-season slugging percentage mark of .727. Her 2022 slugging percentage sits at .860.
She also broke the program's single-season record for sacrifice flies with five, surpassing the previous mark of four.
A Familiar Foe
The Black and Gold lead the all-time series, 27-15 against Stetson. KSU enters Tuesday on a three-game win streak over the Hatters.
Kennesaw State swept the divisional foe in a three-game tilt earlier in the season. The Owls won by a combined score of 20-5.
The last meeting in the ASUN Championship between the two was on May 13, 2016, where the Owls secured a 5-2 victory over the Hatters.
On Deck
With a win over Stetson, the Owls would advance to the double-elimination portion of the 2022 ASUN Championship and square off against No. 3 North Florida on Wednesday, May 11 at 3:00 p.m.
Every game of the tournament will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
