BLOOMINGTON, Ind. –Sarah Hendrick of the Kennesaw State men's track and field team competed on the final day of the NCAA East Preliminary Championships on Saturday at the Haugh Track and Field Complex on the campus of Indiana University.

Hendrick ran a time of 2:02.16 in the 800m quarterfinals to win the event and advance to the semifinals of the 800m at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore. for the second consecutive season.

"Tonight, I just wanted to race and see where it would get me. My goal was to be the top time out of the East Prelims so I am glad to accomplish that and represent not only Kennesaw State but the ASUN Conference as well. I am so happy to see so many of my fellow ASUN athletes qualify for nationals. I am excited to race in Oregon."

On qualifying for the long jump finals in Oregon ...
"Overall, I didn't jump as well as I would have liked but I'm grateful to have been able to push through and qualify for Eugene. I'm excited to have another opportunity to go to Oregon to compete at the national level for the first time outdoors. Go Owls!"
