Akins and Hendrick Lead Owls on Thursday at NCAA East Preliminary Championships

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Four members of the Kennesaw State women's track and field team competed on the second day of the NCAA East Preliminary Championships on Thursday at Haugh Track and Field on the campus of Indiana University.
 
Eugene Bound
Jasmine Akins finished 12th in the long jump with a leap of 6.08m (19'11.5") to advance to finals in Eugene, Oregon on Thursday, June 9 at 10 p.m. ET. She will be joined in Oregon by Liberty's Ayanna Johnson. They will be the first two women to ever represent the ASUN Conference in the women's long jump final at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
 
Running Event Qualifiers for Saturday's Quarterfinals
Sarah Hendrick ran a time of 2:04.20 in the 800m to finish second overall and advance to Saturday's quarterfinals.
 
Notable Performances
Olivia Brown ran a time of 13.72 seconds to secure 35th in the 100m hurdles.

Six members of the KSU men's track and field team will compete on day three of the NCAA East Preliminary Championships on Friday, May 27.
