2022 ASUN Tournament Bracket | CoSIDA Release
KENNESAW, Ga. – Senior third baseman
Taylor Cates was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Softball First Team, the association announced Thursday.
She has started all 49 games for the Owls this season and set the KSU single-season home run record with 17. She also set the KSU single-season record with five sacrifice flies and is on-pace to set the mark for best slugging percentage (.820).
Cates led the team in batting average (.387), OPS (1.253), runs (37), hits (58), doubles (14), home runs (17), RBI (43), total bases (123), slugging percentage (.820) and on-base percentage (.433). She tied for the team lead with 10 stolen bases.
She was named to the ASUN All-Conference First Team and All-Academic team Monday.
In the classroom, she had a 3.92 cumulative GPA as an elementary education major.
With the selection, Cates is now automatically on the ballot for the CoSIDA Academic All-American team.
The No. 6 Owls continue their run through the 2022 ASUN Softball Championship at 3:00 p.m. against No. 5 Jacksonville State
