JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The No. 6 Kennesaw State softball team (22-27) came up short in a 4-1 defeat to the No. 3 North Florida Ospreys (40-15) at the UNF Softball Complex Wednesday.
Senior center fielder
Katie Greep continued her incredible performance in the tournament, going 2-for-3 against ASUN All-Conference First Team pitcher Morgan Clausen (13-4). Greep is 5-for-8 in the tournament.
North Florida tallied the first run of the game and took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second.
After four scoreless innings and with
Pacy Villa on third and
Isabella Galloway on second,
Faith Alexander hit an infield single to shortstop to even the game 1-1 in the top of the fifth.
UNF added three in the bottom half of the frame to take a 4-1 lead. The Owls rally came up short in the final two innings.
Starter
Lindsey Kyte (3-6) pitched 6.0 innings and was credited with the loss.
GAME NOTES
>> Greep's hit in the first inning extended her hitting (5) and reached-base (9) streaks.
>> With two hits Wednesday, Greep posted her 11th multi-hit game of the season and the 35th of her career.
>> Galloway increased her career-high reached-base streak to nine games.
>> Galloway and Alexander's hit streaks now stand at four games.

The Owls took two of three from the Gamecocks at Bailey Park in March.
