KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State point guard Amani Johnson is not done picking up awards for the the 2021-22 season, as the senior was one of 12 student-athletes named to the ASUN Winter Winners for Life team, the conference office announced on Friday.
The team is composed of one student-athlete from each of the 12 institutions and honors those who display excellence on and off the playing surface. The Winners for Life team honors a campus citizen that is respected as one who shares and/or demonstrates the ASUN Core Values: Education, Honesty, Student-Athlete Experience, Fairness, Health, Ambition, Respect, Diversity, Inclusion, Leadership, Responsibility, and Sportsmanship. To be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must have competed in the current academic year in an ASUN sponsored sport and be in good academic standing at his/her university.
This comes on top of her selection to both ASUN All-Conference Second Team and ASUN All-Academic Team in March, and a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District IV First Team.
The KSU co-captain finished the 2021-22 campaign as the fourth-highest scorer in the ASUN at 13.1 points per game and netted the second-highest point-per-game ratio in conference play at 13.8, while also sitting at fourth place in assist rankings with 4.5 helpers per game.
Playing the most minutes among ASUN players through the end of the regular season, Johnson logged 108 minutes more than the next player; the Owl played an average of 38.33 minutes per game, the third-most playing time in the nation.
While succeeding on the court and in the classroom, Johnson was also fulfilling her current role as the Kennesaw State SGA President.
