FORT MYERS, Fla. – Kennesaw State women's tennis dropped a tight match to No. 74 FGCU 4-3 on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, KSU has dropped its third straight match and fell to 1-4 in ASUN Conference play.
How it Happened
The doubles point came down to the wire between KSU and FGCU. The Owls secured the team score behind a 6-3 victory from
Kat Muzik/
Taylor Dean and a close 7-5 victory from
Sofia Pinedo/
Sophia Unger. The No. 2 doubles team of
Ji Youn Lee/
Valentina Taddia went unfinished tied at 6-6 after KSU secured the doubles point.
In singles action,
Sophia Unger defeated Alba Retortillo 6-4, 6-3 and
Sofia Pinedo was victorious against Gabriela Macias 7-5, 6-0. FGCU rallied off three points to tie the match at 3-3. The overall victory came down to a three-set thriller between
Ji Youn Lee and Fanny Norin. Lee would come up just short, falling 3-6, 7-6, 6-7(2-7).
Next Up
KSU will be back at home on Friday, Apr. 8, to host Jacksonville State. Match time is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at the Betty Siegel Courts.
