KENNESAW, Ga. – Anthony Harrison, Sarah Hendrick,
Jasmine Akins and
Kali Terza collected ASUN Athlete of the Week awards for their performances at the Crimson Tide Invitational and Georgia Tech Invitational, the conference announced Wednesday.
Harrison was named ASUN Men's Field Athlete of the Week. He finished second in the invitational portion of the discus throw with a personal-best mark of 58.86m (193'1) at the Crimson Tide Invitational. That mark established a new school record. It ranks first in the ASUN and eighth in the NCAA East Region. In the event, the sophomore beat throwers from Alabama, Auburn, Missouri and Tennessee. He finished 13th in the shot put with a mark of 17.01m (55'9.75"). That mark ranks seventh in the ASUN this season.
Hendrick was named ASUN Women's Track Athlete of the Week. She won the 1500m with a time of 4:15.91 at the Georgia Tech Invitational. That time established a new school record. It also ranks first in the ASUN, 15th in the NCAA East Region and 24th in the NCAA this season. She beat runners from Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, Georgia and Lipscomb in the event. The junior won the 800m with a time of 2:03.67 over athletes from Georgia, Vanderbilt, Lipscomb and Georgia Tech.
Akins collected the ASUN Women's Field Athlete of the Week award. She won the long jump with a mark of 6.26m (20'6.5") at the Crimson Tide Invitational beating jumpers from Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama and Ole Miss in the event. That mark ranks No.3 in program history.
Terza secured the ASUN Women's Freshman Athlete of the Week award for the second consecutive week. She finished fifth in the hammer throw with a personal-best toss of 56.68m (185'11"). That mark established a new school record, ranks third in the ASUN and 60th in the NCAA East Region. She defeated throwers from Auburn, Samford and Alabama in the meet. The Woodstock, Ga. native finished 23rd in the shot put with a mark of 12.31m (40'4.75").
Hendrick will race at Penn Relays on April 28 while Harrison, Akins and Terza will compete at the Torrin Lawrence Memorial.
