Kennesaw State to Face Liberty in ASUN Semifinal Match Saturday

Match Preview
The Kennesaw State men's tennis team is set to take on Liberty in the semifinals of the ASUN Men's Tennis Championships this Saturday.

KSU enters Saturday's matchup as the co-regular season champions and the No. 2 seed in the conference championships. With the No. 2 seed, KSU had a first-round bye in the tournament.

With a win over Jacksonville State, the Owls will move on to the Championship round where they will face the winner of FGCU and North Florida on Sunday, April 24 at 1 p.m. The winner of the ASUN Tournament will receive an automatic bid to the 2022 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championship.
 
ASUN Championships Format
The 2022 ASUN Men's Tennis Championship will be a six-team, single-elimination tournament which is contested over three days. The top-six teams based on regular-season conference standings have advanced to the tournament, with the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds having byes in the first round. First Round matches will be contested on Friday, April 22 with Semifinal matches on Saturday, April 23. The ASUN Championship Final will be held Sunday, April 24.
 
ASUN All-Conference Honors                                                                                                                                Four members of the Kennesaw State men's tennis program collected ASUN honors, the conference announced on Thursday. Matt Emery was named ASUN Coach of the Year, Raul Garcia and Matthew Terry collected ASUN First Team All-Conference honors and Hugo Salmeron was named to the All-Freshmen team.

Impressive in Singles Play
KSU finished the regular season with a 74-35 record in singles play. Nine different players have recorded wins for the Owls this season. Five Owls have also reached double digit wins including Hugo Salmeron (14-3),  Matthew Terry (13-2), Raul Garcia (13-4), Harvey Conway (11-7) and Kevin Patel (10-8).

Scouting Liberty
Liberty finished its regular season with a record of 10-10 (6-2 ASUN). The defending champions enter the ASUN tournament as the No. 3 seed and winners of their last two matches, defeating North Florida 7-0 and Stetson 6-1.
  
The Series
KSU and Liberty will meet for the fifth time on Saturday. The Owls defeated Liberty 4-1 this season, but the Flames still hold a 3-1 series lead.
 
The Last Time Out
The Kennesaw State men's tennis team defeated North Alabama 7-0 on Thursday, April 14. KSU picked up the doubles point and all six singles matches in route to victory.
