Owls Set for First Round Matchup Against Defending ASUN Champions

KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State women's tennis has entered postseason play and is set to take on defending ASUN champion, North Florida, in the first round of the ASUN Women's Tennis Championships this Friday. The winner will move on to the semifinals to face off against Stetson on Apr. 23. 
  
Match 21:  No. 6 Kennesaw State (14-6) vs No. 3 North Florida (14-8)  
Date: Friday, April 22; 9:00 a.m.

ASUN Championships Format 
The 2022 ASUN Women's Tennis Championship will be a six-team, single-elimination tournament which is contested over three days. The top-six teams based on regular-season conference standings have advanced to the tournament, with the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds having byes in the first round. First Round matches will be contested on Friday, April 22 with Semifinal matches on Saturday, April 23. The ASUN Championship Final will be held Sunday, April 24. 
 
Owls Season Statistics  
In singles action, the Owls have a combined record of 69-42. Four different Owls have recorded double digit wins this season including  Sofia Pinedo (12-8), Ji Youn Lee (13-4), Kat Muzik(12-5), and Valentina Taddia (10-9). 
 
In doubles action, KSU has a record of 29-16. The No.1 doubles team of Taylor Dean/Kat Muzik ranked 4th among ASUN Conference No.1 doubles teams posting a record of 9-5. The No. 2 doubles team of Ji Youn Lee/Valentina Taddia ranked 4th among ASUN conference No. 2 doubles teams posting a record of 10-5 this season.  
  
Scouting North Florida 
North Florida enters the ASUN tournament riding an eight-match winning streak. The Ospreys finished the regular season with a record of 14-8 (8-1 ASUN) and were crowned co-regular season champions with FGCU and Stetson.  
  
The Series  
Friday's match between Kennesaw State and North Florida will be the 15th meeting between the two programs. UNF leads the all-time series 14-0, last defeating KSU 6-1 on Mar. 25.  
  
The Last Time Out  
Kennesaw State split matches last weekend on the road against North Alabama and Central Arkansas. On Thursday, the Owls defeated UNA 6-1 to capture a program tying tenth road victory on the season. KSU concluded its regular season in a 5-2 loss to Central Arkansas on Saturday, Apr. 16.
