OPELIKA, Ala. – The Kennesaw State men's golf team opened play at the Tiger Invitational at Grand National Lake Course on Sunday.
The Owls shot a 9-over par 297 in the opening round. Play began in the second round and the Owls had finished 10-12 holes before it was suspended due to darkness. KSU was tied for 15th when play was halted for the day. The second round is scheduled to resume at 9 a.m. ET on Monday, Mar. 7 with the final round beginning after the conclusion of round two. The original tournament of 18 holes on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday was scrapped due to inclement weather that is expected on Monday and Tuesday.
"We have a few holes left in the second round and need to regain some momentum after a good night's rest," head coach
Bryant Odom said. "It was a long hot day and we lost some focus and battled more injuries in the afternoon holes. Altogether, the fight and energy has been very good from the team."
Lucas Mota guided the Owls in round one with an even-par 72. He made thirteen pars and two birdies in his opening round. He is 9-over through 12 holes of his second round.
Justin Kim carded his lowest round on a par-72 course with a 2-over par 74. The redshirt-senior collected 14 pars in round one. He is 6-over through 12 holes in the second round.
Brock Healy shot a 3-over par 75 in round one and is 3-over through 10 holes in round two.
Takafumi Shimoji recorded a 4-over 76 and is 10-over through 12 holes in the second round.
Luke Phillips opened with a 5-over par 77 but is 3-under par through 11 holes in round two.
The Owls will try to finish play at the Tiger Invitational on Monday, March 7 at 9 a.m. ET.
