KENNESAW, Ga. –
Courtney Lawrence was named ASUN Men's Field Athlete of the Week and
Tayla Moreland was awarded the ASUN Women's Freshman Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.
Lawrence won the shot put with a career-best toss of 19.26m (63' 2.25") at the Don McGarey Invitational. The mark ranks first in the ASUN by nearly 3.5 feet. It also ranks third in the NCAA East Region and seventh in the NCAA this season. He finished second in the discus with a mark of 46.08m (151' 2"). This is his first ASUN Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week honor.
Moreland won the long jump and the triple jump at the Don McGarey Invitational. She earned victory in the long jump with a wind-aided personal-best of 6.08m (19' 11.5"). That score ranks first in the ASUN. Her non-wind-aided mark of 6.05m (19'10.25") ranks 19th in the NCAA East Region. She won the triple jump with a leap of 12.00m (39'4.5"). The jump ranks second in the ASUN and 52nd in the NCAA East Region this season.
The Owls will compete in the Tennessee Relays on Thursday, April 7 through Saturday, April 9 in Knoxville, Tenn.
