KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State softball team came up short in its first midweek game of the year, falling to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, 5-0, Wednesday evening at Bailey Park.
Georgia Tech (15-2) got on the board early after the first inning and plated another runner in the second inning to get out to a 2-0 lead.
Brinaya Bailey (second inning) and Taylor Cates (third inning) each recorded a double to account for the only extra-base hits for the Owls (4-9) on the evening.
The Yellow Jackets would score three more runners in the next four innings to extend their lead to five.
The Owls fought for all seven innings with the defense limiting the Yellow Jacket offense and stranding eight runners on base.
Melanie Bennett (2-5) pitched 5.2 innings with four strikeouts. She was credited with the loss.

The Owls and Yellow Jackets raised nearly $4000 for the Alexis Kaiser Foundation Wednesday afternoon. Fans can still donate to the foundation and support local children with neuromuscular ailments here.

ON DECK
KSU heads to Fayetteville, Ark. for the Razorback Rumble on Friday, March 4 through Sunday, March 6. The Owls will face Kansas City, Missouri State and the nationally-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks for five games during the weekend.
The Owls return to Bailey Park on Wednesday, March 16 for a showdown against the Auburn Tigers set for a 6:00 p.m. first pitch. Admission is free and fans can follow the action on ESPN+.
