Owls Begin ASUN Play Against Liberty and Bellarmine

KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State women's tennis is set to begin ASUN conference play over the weekend. The team will host a pair of matches as the Owls look to continue their hot start.

Hot Start
The Kennesaw State women's tennis team is off to its best start in program history. The team's 10-1 record marks the best start since the 2011 season when the Owls won seven consecutive games to begin the year.

Owls Season Statistics
In singles action, Ji Youn Lee leads the Owls in victories posting a record of 9-1. Sofia Pinedo and Valentina Taddia follow with a record of 8-3. The No.1 doubles team of Taylor Dean/Kat Muzik have five victories with one loss. The No. 2 doubles team of Ji Youn Lee/Valentina Taddia have a record of 7-3 thus far in the season.

Road Dominance
The Owls have been dominant on the road, tallying nine victories away from campus to start the year. Its ninth road victory last week sets KSU one win shy from tying the previous record set at ten in the 2011 season.


Scouting Liberty
Liberty has won eight of their last nine matches. Last weekend, the Flames defeated William & Mary 4-3 on Saturday before defeating UTSA 4-0 and posting their fourth shutout of the season.

Scouting Bellarmine
Bellarmine has had a challenging non-conference schedule taking on four power five schools. The Knights were last defeated by Cincinnati 4-0 on March 12th.

The Series
Friday's match between Kennesaw State and Liberty will be the second meeting between the two programs. Liberty defeated KSU 7-0 during the 2019 season.

Sunday's match between Kennesaw State and Bellarmine will be the first meeting between the two teams.


The Last Time Out
KSU women's tennis won two of its three matches last week. The Owls defeated Western Carolina 6-1 on Tuesday to win their ninth straight match of the season. On Thursday, KSU dropped its first match of the season against No. 31 Old Dominion 7-0. KSU got back in the win column defeating Wingate University 4-0 on Sunday.

Tennis Trivia Night
Tennis Trivia Night will be held during the men's and women's tennis matches on Friday March 18th. Fans must download the KSU Owls App to participate, and points will reset with each round. Various prizes will be given to those who participate in the trivia. Categories are general tennis knowledge and KSU Tennis knowledge.


Next Up
KSU continues ASUN conference play as the team travels to North Florida on Friday, Mar. 25. Match time is set for 11:00 a.m. at the UNF Tennis Complex.
