BIRMINGHAM, Ala – Sarah Hendrick ran a time of 2:06.81 to finish eighth in the finals of the 800m at the NCAA Indoor Championships on Saturday.

That finish earns her First Team All-America honors for the second consecutive season in the 800m. The Kennesaw native became the first KSU female athlete in the program's Division I history to be a two-time indoor First Team All-American.

Hendrick on her Race Tonight
"This was definitely not the race that I wanted but a race I needed in order to know my limits. I wanted to make the race fast but I got a little too excited and pushed it too hard. I am definitely disappointed but this will make me work much harder for the outdoor championships. I am going to move on from this and take it as a lesson and be able to come back stronger."

KSU Assistant Coach Adam Bray on Hendrick's Race
"I'm disappointed in the outcome but the effort was perhaps my proudest moment as a coach. Sarah and I had a plan of being aggressive and her running her own race. She certainly did that and was a little too aggressive which ended up costing her in the latter stages of her race. I do not know a coach who would be disappointed in their athlete leading the NCAA championship for 90% of their race. That is exactly what Sarah did this evening. She tested her limits and I would say that she definitely learned a lot about herself by doing that. She will be so much better for this and it will pay huge dividends in the near future. We are all extremely proud of Sarah and we cannot wait to see what she does this outdoor season."

KSU Director of Track and Field Cale McDaniel on the Weekend
"I'm so proud to lead this program and have the privilege to work with the staff and young people that make up KSU track and field. Sarah and Jasmine are special individuals that represent KSU so well. Coach Bray and Coach Talkington are two of the countries best and we are super lucky to have them here with us. It's a great time to be an Owl and it is only going to get better."

Hendrick and the Owls open their outdoor season on March 18-19 at the Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Georgia Tech.
