KENNESAW, Ga. –Â
Sarah Hendrick and Jasmine Akins will represent Kennesaw State at the 2022 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala. on March 11-12.

Hendrick will compete in the 800m and Akins will compete in the long jump for the Owls. To qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships, individuals must finish in the top-16 nationally in their specific event or top-12 in relay at the end of the season.

Hendrick qualified for the 800m running a time of 2:02.87 at the Music City Challenge. That time set a school record in the event and ranks No. 5 in the NCAA this season.
She will run in the 800m semifinal on Friday, March 11 and will need to finish in the top eight to advance to the final on March 12.

Hendrick returns to the NCAA Indoor Championships for the second consecutive season. She finished eighth in the 800m earning her First Team All-America honors in 2021.

Akins will compete in the long jump preliminary round at 8 p.m. ET on Mar. 11 and if she finishes in the top eight, she will compete in the finals that same evening. Â The Savannah, Ga. native landed a leap of 6.37m (20'10.75") to win the gold medal at the ASUN Indoor Championships. That mark set a facility record and ranks No. 15 in the NCAA this season.

Akins will be the second athlete to represent the Owls at the NCAA Indoor Championships in the long jump joining
Jordan Gray who competed for KSU in 2019. Â
