THE STORYLINE
Alexis Poole set a new Kennesaw State Division I career scoring record as the Owls utilized lockdown defense to keep Central Arkansas from inflicting their style of play, with Kennesaw State picking up a 66-52 win in its largest margin of victory of conference play on Wednesday night.

COACH OCTAVIA BLUE QUOTES
On stringing together back-to-back wins…

"We're finally starting to put four quarters together, that's something I harped on for a while. Our second half was important, it's what got us over the hump today."

On stopping Central Arkansas in the paint…
"They were able to score points in the paint early on from their offensive rebounding. I think our first level of defense was pretty good, we weren't doing a good job of boxing out even from the foul line. I think we made that adjustment in the second half: we came up big, we made stops, we boxed out, but it was the intensity of the second half that I'm most proud of."

HOW IT HAPPENED
An early 3-pointer started the Sugar Bears off hot in the first quarter, as the visitors were able to use incisive passes and offensive rebounds to make affairs tough for the Owls in the paint.

Amani Johnson was doing it all for the Owls early on, and got her team back into it with a trifecta to cut UCA's lead to 7-5.

Central Arkansas was able to finish the first 10 minutes off with a 17-13 lead, shooting 66.7 percent from the field as opposed to KSU's 31.3 percent.

The Owls were able to grab their first lead in the second quarter at 22-21, thanks to Johnson converting a steal into an assist for freshman Prencis Harden.

The lead would change hands once more before Bre'Lyn Snipes converted a free throw on an and-one pull-up jumper, leading to a 26-24 KSU advantage at halftime.

Kept to only two points in the first half, Poole finally made history after moving downhill for a driving layup. Kennesaw State has a new Division I scoring leader, with Poole besting Deandrea Sawyers' previous 1,380 tally.

Octavia Blue's squad was able to use a full-court press to force six turnovers from the Sugar Bears in the third quarter, of which the Owls scored seven points off of.

With KSU forcing 21 UCA turnovers, that sets a new season high for the Owls in conference play this season.

The lead for the hosts would reach double digits late in the third quarter, taking a 12-point edge with a minute left in the period.

The Sugar Bears were unable to find a foothold in the contest, as the Owls were able to match their offense for the rest of the game.

Kennesaw State picked up its first string of back-to-back wins in conference play with a 66-52 victory, and first of the season since December with wins against Furman and Georgia Southern.
