The Kennesaw State women's basketball team faces off against Central Arkansas on Wednesday evening for the first time in the two programs' histories, returning home to the Convocation Center after splitting a two-game road trip.
The Owls are coming off a win against Bellarmine, crashing the boards and putting in their best offensive performance of the conference campaign to win 72-65.
CEMENTING A LEGACY
Senior forward Alexis Poole is almost certain to break KSU's Division I scoring record Wednesday night, sitting only four points away from besting Deandrea Sawyers' previous 1,380 tally.
The Ellenwood, Ga. native has only come short of four points in a game twice in her 18 games this season.
Poole has averaged 9.9 points per game against conference teams this season, with her season best in ASUN play coming from a 16-point performance in a win against North Alabama.
PERFECT PRENCIS
Freshman Prencis Harden showed the best play of her young career against the Knights on Saturday, tying a career high with seven rebounds and netting a new career high with 11 points.
The forward from Swainsboro, Ga. impressively accumulated in only 18 minutes of play, doing most of her work in the fourth quarter.
Head coach Octavia Blue has said that Harden has practiced well in recent weeks, so the freshman may be one to watch in this homestand.
SCOUTING CENTRAL ARKANSAS
Lucy Ibeh has been a phenom for the Sugar Bears ever since her summer transfer from Collin College. The native Nigerian is the only ASUN player to average a double-double this season, racking up a conference-best 10.4 boards per game.
Central Arkansas's offense comes primarily in the paint, with the Sugar Bears making less 3-point shots than any other team in the nation. The Sugar Bears also rank in the bottom 10 percent in scoring offense, netting 54 points per game.
Ibeh's forward partner, Hannah Langhi is also a dangerous force within the perimeter, sitting second on the team in scoring 11.3 points per game. The grad student has reached double-digit tallies in points in six of her last nine games.
NEXT GAME
The Owls end their two-game homestand with a Saturday afternoon matchup against North Florida. The 2 p.m. event will also include the team's annual Pink Day celebrations.
