First and Second Round Results | Third Round Live Scoring
KYLE, Tex. - The Kennesaw State women's golf team stands in sixth place after the first two rounds of the Texas State Invitational.
The Owls finished the first 36 holes at 33-over 609. The team currently has a five-stroke lead on host school Texas State.
As a team, KSU is second in the tournament with 25 birdies, eight posted by
Caitlyn Campbell-Nyman. She is also tied with
Alizee Vidal with a 3.10 par-3 scoring average that is second among all participants.
"The conditions were tough with the wind and the team handled it well," head coach
Erin Thorne said. "We're in a position to achieve the goals we've set for the tournament with a solid third round."
Alizee Vidal led the Owls on day one with a 5-over 149, including a team-low 2-over 74 in the first round. She will enter round three tied for 11th.
Meva Schmit finished the day tied for 19th at 8-over 152. Her score of 3-over 75 in the opening round tied her season-low for a single round.
Lara Jecnik was right behind her with a 9-over 153 through the first 36 holes. She will begin Tuesday's action tied for 25th.
Caitlyn Campbell-Nyman ended the day at 11-over 155 and tied for 30th.
Bella Kil carded a 166 during Monday's rounds. Kil currently sits tied for 58th.
The Owls finish the Texas State Invitational with round three on Tuesday, Feb. 8. Following this tournament is the Rio Verde Invitational hosted by the Western Michigan Broncos in Rio Verde, Ariz. on Friday, Feb. 25 through Sunday, Feb. 27.
