Game Notes
The Kennesaw State women's basketball team looks to even the record of their Kentucky road trip with a visit to Bellarmine's Freedom Hall on Saturday afternoon.
The Owls are coming off of a tough loss at Eastern Kentucky, dropping a 68-58 matchup in the two programs' first meeting in history.
CEMENTING A LEGACY
Senior forward
Alexis Poole inches ever closer to etching her name in KSU history books, as she currently sits 16 points away from becoming the highest-scoring Owl in Division I history.
With the Ellenwood, Ga. native netting more than 16 points four times this season, it looks likely that Poole will either break the record Saturday in Louisville, Ky. or in the team's return to the Convocation Center on Wednesday against Central Arkansas.
Poole now sits on 1,365 career points, with the currently-held 1,380 mark set by Deandrea Sawyers as the best career tally in Kennesaw State's Division I history.
BREE'S A BEAST
Sophomore guard
Bre'Lyn Snipes has made an impact in her return to the lineup after missing the beginning of conference play due to injury.
In her three games back, Snipes has averaged 10 points and five boards per game.
The Owls' no. 23 has hit her personal scoring best of 14 points three times this season, including the team's last game against Eastern Kentucky.
SCOUTING BELLARMINE
Strangely enough, the Owls will have to deal with another dangerous player named Jaela Johnson; Kennesaw State also had to do so against Eastern Kentucky.
Unlike EKU's Jayla Johnson, Bellarmine's no. 3 is a five-foot-five guard and she leads the team in scoring. Johnson is the only Knight that is averaging double digits in scoring this campaign.
In the midst of its second season in Division I, Bellarmine has struggled to find its footing this year. They currently hold the lowest winning-percentage in the ASUN this season and sit bottom of the conference's rankings for scoring margin; the Knights score 13.5 less points than their opponents.
Senior guard Bailee Harney has been dangerous in league play, leading the team over those nine games with 13.3 points per game. The Owls will need to watch her when she receives the ball in the perimeter, as she is currently hitting 19 of her 41 attempts from beyond the arc in ASUN games.
NEXT GAME
The Owls return home to the Convocation Center on Wednesday, Feb. 9 to host Central Arkansas for the first time in program history. Tipoff is at 5 p.m.
