Campbell-Nyman Paces Owls After 36 Holes in Arizona

RIO VERDE, Ariz. – The Kennesaw State women's golf team remains atop the scorecard after 36 holes in the Rio Verde Invitational after completing the second round Saturday.
The Owls carded an 8-over 296 on day two, adding to a 6-over 582 for the tournament and three strokes ahead of Xavier University.

LEADING THE PARLIAMENT:
Caitlyn Campbell-Nyman led the team shooting an even-par in the second round and leads the 92-player field with a 5-under 139 score.
Campbell-Nyman is second among participants with nine birdies. She also leads the field in individual par-4 scoring with an average of 3.69.

SCORECARD:
Bella Kil sits tied for fourth in the tournament after carding a 6-over 78 on Saturday. Her overall tournament score stands at even-par. Kil also leads all participants in par-3 scoring with a 2.70 average.
Alizee Vidal jumped 11 spots from round one to eighth in the tournament after an even-par second round. She has a 3-over 147 score overall.
Meva Schmit is tied for 34th with a 9-over 153 score for the tournament while Lara Jecnik sits tied for 40th at 11-over 155 through the first 36 holes.

ROUND TWO NOTES:
>> The Owls lead the tournament in par-4 scoring (4.13) and is second in par-3 scoring (3.12) and par-5 scoring (5.04).
>> KSU's leads the Rio Verde Invitational with 31 birdies, six more than any other team in the field.
>> The Owls lead the tournament in par-3 (3.04 average) and par-4 scoring (4.00).

THORNE'S THOUGHTS:
"The conditions were tougher today and the team handled it well," head coach Erin Thorne said. "Birdies were tough to come by but we're in a position to take care of business."
"We're looking forward to competing in the final round," Thorne added.

NEXT TEE TIME:
The Owls complete the Rio Verde Invitational with third round action on Sunday, Feb. 27.
After the weekend trip in the desert, KSU heads to Wallace, N.C. for the River Landing Classic on Monday, March 7 through Tuesday, March 8.
