First Round Results | Second Round Live Scoring
RIO VERDE, Ariz. – The Kennesaw State women's golf team got off to a strong start in the desert Friday afternoon and sit atop the leaderboard after one round at the Rio Verde Invitational.
The Owls posted a 2-under 286, the only squad in the 18-team field under-par after Friday's action and five strokes ahead of second-place Xavier.
LEADING THE PARLIAMENT:
Bella Kil leads all 92 players in the field after she carded a 6-under 66 with six birdies and did not finish over-par on any hole in the first round. Kil also paces the field in par-3 scoring with a 2.40 average.
She is also tied for second in par-5 scoring with a 4.60 scoring average.
SCORECARD:
Caitlyn Campbell-Nyman follows right behind Kil, shooting a 5-under 67 and alone in second place on Friday with a team-best eight birdies. Campbell-Nyman leads all participants in birdies and par-4 scoring average (3.38).
Alizee Vidal is tied for 19th after the first 18 at 3-over 75.
Meva Schmit and
Lara Jecnik sit tied for 40th at 6-over 78 after the first round of action.
ROUND ONE NOTES:
>> The Owls lead the tournament in par-3 (3.04 average) and par-4 scoring (4.00).
>> KSU's starting five has 21 birdies, seven more than any other team in the tournament.

THORNE'S THOUGHTS:
"The team got off to a nice start," head coach
Erin Thorne said. "Our two Aussies are leading the way with college personal bests. I'm excited to see what we can do the next two days."
NEXT TEE TIME:
The Owls return to the course for round two of the Rio Verde Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 26 and round three on Sunday, Feb. 27.
After the weekend trip in the desert, KSU heads to Wallace, N.C. for the River Landing Classic on Monday, March 7 through Tuesday, March 8.
