ATLANTA, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women's tennis team collected an 8-1 victory over Emory University on Saturday at the Woodruff PE Center. With the win, KSU (5-0) is off to its best start since the 2011 season when the team began the year with seven consecutive wins.

The Owls secured the victory winning two doubles and six singles matches.

KSU got on the board first as
Kat Muzik and
Taylor Dean raced to an 8-0 victory over Xuanjin Li and Alexa Goetz. The Owls would extend the lead to 2-1 as
Ji Youn Lee and
Valentina Taddia defeated Jessica Fatemi and Emma Cartledge 8-5 on court two.

Muzik continued her strong start to the season with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Eliza McPherson.
Sophia Unger defeated Fatemi 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 to clinch the victory for the Owls. Youn Lee and
Valentina Taddia each collected victories in straight sets. Youn Lee secured a 6-2, 7-5 win over Cartledge while Taddia defeated Ana Cristina Perez 6-4, 6-4. Dean and
Sofia Pinedo needed three sets but were able to secure victories. Dean took down Christina Watson 6-3, 5-7, 10-8. Pinedo closed the match with a 6-3, 4-6, 10-8 win over Alexa Goetz.
KSU squares off with in-state rival Georgia State on Saturday, Feb. 26. Match time is set for 1:00 p.m. at the Sharon Lester Tennis Center at Piedmont Park.
