KSU Opens Music City Challenge with Strong Showing

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Kennesaw State track and field teams opened competition at the Music City Challenge on Friday.
 
Men's Top Performances
  • Sultan Simms cleared 2.02m (6'7.5") in the high jump to secure a tie for fourth place.
  • Juan Cavazos II cleared 1.96m (6'5") in the high jump to finish ninth.
  • Anthony Harrison threw for a career high 18.97m (62'3") in the weight throw for a fourth-place finish.
  • Kaelen Mitchell jumped for 7.5m (24'7.75") for a career high in the long jump with a result of third place.
  • Kelvin Campbell also gained a new collegiate high in the long jump with a jump of 7.45m (24'5.5"), resulting in fourth place.
  • Quann Shears jumped for 6.88m (22'7") in the long jump to finish 13th.
  • Omar Diaz finished fifth in the 200m with a run of 21.71 seconds.
  • Xavier Paris ran 21.78 in the 200m to secure seventh place.
 
Women's Top Performances
  • Jania Joseph tied her collegiate best by clearing 1.68 (6'7.5") in the high jump to finish fourth.
  • Ashanty Lee cleared 1.57 (5'1.75") in the high jump to tie for sixth place.
  • Jasmine Akins jumped 6.04m (19'9.75") in the long jump to earn a third-place finish.
  • Kywana Donahoo jumped 5.79m (19'0") in the long jump to finish ninth overall.
 
Next Up
The Owls will finish competition at the Music City Challenge on Saturday, Feb. 12.
