KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State Director of Tennis Matt Emery announced on Friday the signing of four student-athletes. Two will join the Owls in January 2023 while the other two will join in August 2023.
Among the Owl singings are Izabelle Perrson, Sofia Madrid, and twin sisters Ema and Terezia Baraniakova.
Perrson hails from Linkoping, Sweden where she attended Hermods Distansgymnasium High School. She reached a career high Universal Tennis Rating of 9.84 and is ranked 365 in the ITF Junior Rankings.
"We are thrilled that Izabelle will be joining us this spring," said Emery. "Izabelle has the ability to play with any player in our conference, and we couldn't be happier about her addition to our Owl family this January."
The Swede is currently ranked 851 in the WTA singles rankings and 1070 in the WTA doubles rankings. She has won multiple titles throughout her junior's career. Perrson won two ITF junior doubles titles and is a multi-time Swedish National Doubles Champion.
Madrid hails from Nequin, Argentina where she was the Under 18 National Doubles Champion and attended SEADA High School.
"We are very excited about Sofia joining us this spring. Her tennis level is obviously very high, and she will no doubt be an immediate impact player," Emery said. "But her work ethic and ambition to maximize her talent, as well as help continue to propel our program to higher levels, are the intangibles we are most excited about. Her upside is virtually limitless, and we are excited to see how far she can go."
The Argentinian has a current ranking of 694 in WTA singles, a UTR rating of 9.5 and is the second ranked juniors' player in her country.
Ema and Terezia are from Leopoldov, Slovakia where they attend Hotel Academy.
Ema is ranked 12
th in the Slovakian women's singles rankings and No. 1028 in the WTA singles rankings. She took home third place at the Slovakian National Singles Championship. She carries a 10.79 UTR rating.
Terezia ranks 30
th in the Slovakian women's singles rankings and No. 1409 in the WTA singles rankings. She currently obtains a 9.03 UTR rating.
"We couldn't be more excited about Ema and Terezia becoming Owls next fall. They have both had success at the highest levels of our game, and they are going to be immediate impact players on our program. Their maturity, professionalism and the ownership they take in their careers was very impressive in the recruiting process. We can't wait to get them on campus next fall."
The Owls return to court in January to begin the dual match portion of the 2022-2023 schedule.
