ATLANTA – Three members of the Kennesaw State women's soccer team were named ASUN All-Conference, the league office announced Wednesday.
Kendall Higgs and
Macie Rainwater were voted to the ASUN All-Conference third team, while
Allanah Blye was selected to the ASUN All-Freshman team.
Higgs is a four-time All-ASUN honoree after making the second-team all-conference three times as an Owl. The midfielder is the first four-time selection in KSU history.
The senior appeared and started in 17 games in the regular season and ranked third on the squad with 1,290 minutes played. The Loxahatchee, Fla. native scored two goals this season and added a pair of assists, totaling six points, tied for third on the team. Higgs has scored 13 career goals in her illustrious Owl career, two shy of breaking into the top ten in the KSU record book. The midfielder finished second on the squad with 28 shots and was fourth with eight shots-on-goal.
Rainwater's selection to the All-ASUN third team comes a season after the Kennesaw native made the ASUN All-Freshman team after leading the Owls with seven goals. Rainwater once again led KSU goal scorers this year with four after appearing in all 18 games, making 14 starts. The forward closed out the regular season in strong fashion as she scored a brace in a 6-1 victory over Stetson and earned ASUN Player of the Week for her efforts. Rainwater led the team in goals (4), points (9), shots (31) and shots-on-goal (14).
Blye made the ASUN All-Freshman team after a stellar freshman campaign for the Duncan, S.C. native. After earning her first starting nod of the season at Presbyterian, Blye posted a 7-4-2 record with five clean sheets, including four in ASUN play. The freshman led the conference with 87 saves and 6.69 saves per game, both marks placing her in the top 25 nationally. The goalkeeper's efforts against Liberty, Eastern Kentucky and Central Arkansas placed her into the KSU record books for most saves in a game. Her 16 saves against Liberty is the most by any Owl in program history.
The Owls head to Lynchburg, Va., for the ASUN Championship Quarterfinal game against the No. 5 seed Eastern Kentucky Colonels Thursday at 7 p.m.
