SAVANNAH, Ga. – After a bounce-back performance in round three, the Kennesaw State women's golf team completed The Southern tournament in fourth place at the Savannah Golf Club Wednesday.
KSU posted a 10-over 298 card on the final 18, tying the lowest score by any team in the third round. The Owls finished the event with a 914 overall scorecard.
The strong Wednesday finish helped the Owls finish 16 strokes ahead of 2022 ASUN Champion North Florida and 35 strokes ahead of Jacksonville State.
LEADING THE TEAM:
Bella Kil had another strong finish at this event, carding a 4-under 68 on Wednesday to finish 5-over 221, good for third among participants. She was the only player to have an under-par round on day three.
Kil led the field in par-3 scoring with a 2.83 average. She led the team in par-4 scoring average (4.33) and birdies (10). Her birdie count tied the tournament-best.
SCORECARD:
Lara Jecnik had her best round of the tournament on Wednesday in the form of a 1-over 73 score. She gained 10 spots on the leaderboard to finish tied for 12th with a 13-over 229 overall card.
Jecnik's nine birdies were second on the team and tied for fourth in the event.
Meva Schmit and
Cameron Neilson ended the tournament tied for 26th at 19-over 235. Schmit carded a 77 in round three while Neilson posted a scorecard of 80.
Schmit tied Kil for the team-lead with a 4.75 par-5 scoring average.
Individual participant
Nyah Kelly finished tied for 36th with an overall score of 238.
Kelly tied Kil for the team lead with 30 pars.
Senior
Tori Owens posted a 242 score in the tournament while
Caitlyn Campbell-Nyman ended the event at 250.

GOLF CART NOTES:
>> The Owls finished tied for second in par-5 scoring (4.95 average) and third in par-3 scoring (3.28).
>> KSU had 36 birdies in the event, second among teams.
>> KSU was one of five teams to record an eagle in the three-day tournament.
NEXT TEE TIME:
Kennesaw State finishes the fall season at the Olde Stone Intercollegiate hosted by Western Kentucky starting Monday, Oct. 24 in Bowling Green, Ky. for a two-day tournament.
