Owls Sit at Seventh After Opening Round at Golfweek Program Challenge

WOLCOTT, Colo. – The Owls stand in seventh place in the Golfweek Program Challenge following opening round action at Red Sky Golf Club on Monday.

As a team, KSU posted a 2-under par 286 in the first round, led by Cameron Neilson. She tallied a 4-under par 68 with eight birdies and finished tied for 11th.

"We got off to a good start and Cameron was just lights out on the front and steady play for her final nine," head coach Erin Thorne said.

Tori Owens carded 2-under par 70 with five birdies and tied for 20th. Lara Jecnik was tied for 24th after shooting 1-under par 71 with four birdies.

Bella Kil ended the first round with a 4-over par 76, while Alizee Vidal shot a 6-over par 78.

"Overall, we still feel like we have areas to tidy up," Thorne said. "We can continue to be in a position to achieve the goals we set for this tournament."

The Owls return to the course for round two on Tuesday, Sept. 28.
